Neuralink, Elon Musk’s neurotechnology startup, recently implanted its first brain chip in a human patient. This implant could pave the way for "cybernetic superpowers," including the ability to control robots with the mind.

Elon Musk announced that the first human patient received the Neuralink chip implant and that the company plans to implant a second patient within the next week. However, the first patient experienced hardware problems, with the device reportedly detaching from the brain a few weeks after surgery. Neuralink is implementing corrective measures, such as inserting wires deeper into the brain and removing air sacs left in the skull post-surgery.

Neuralink also announced the development of a device that aims to double the bandwidth compared to the current model, thus improving the data transmission capacity between the chip and external devices.

The company recently received approval from the FDA to begin human clinical trials, with the goal of using the N1 chip to help paralyzed people control computers and other devices with thought.
