NEW IEEE STUDY GROUP FOR STANDARDS ON HUMANOID ROBOTS
The growing attention to humanoid robots and their potential future role in society makes it imperative to establish standards governing their safety and performance...
The IEEE Robotics & Automation Society has announced the establishment of a new study group to assess the current humanoid robot landscape and develop a roadmap for the adoption of future international standards.
Aaron Prather, director of robotics and autonomous systems programs at ASTM International, will lead this study group.
Participation is open to representatives from industry, academia, government and other interested organizations.
Within a year, the group is expected to present final results, including the establishment of standards to ensure the safety and performance of humanoid robots.
This work aims to create an internationally shared set of rules, ensuring that these emerging technologies are safe and effective.
