nVidia upscales video in Chrome
DukeRem8 February 2023
An interesting technology from nVidia is now supported by Chrome. It is the use of upscaling to be applied in real time to the video, something similar to what nVidia already does in video games with DLSS. Specifically, a 1080 video can be upscaled to 4k, effectively increasing the level of detail in each frame. In other words, this is what a sw such as Topaz's Gigapixel AI, already reviewed on this site, does for a single image. The technology will be available on GPUs of the 2000 series and above. Chrome updates identified by an initial number of 110 already support this feature; however, it is necessary for nVidia to release a driver to activate it (will be those starting with code 530). So, as of today, we can only get an indication of this by watching the following video: https://youtu.be/XA-tQpQqD7U
