MUSK’S xAI PLANS SUPER DATACENTER WITH NVIDIA GPU.

Elon Musk plans to make large investments in NVIDIA, specifically in the AI sector.

Recently, via his social platform X ( formerly Twitter), Musk stated that xAI, his company, plans to build a datacenter with 300,000 B200 accelerators by next summer.

Although this is a rough estimate, it is clear that Musk is aiming for a significant increase in the computing capacity of his datacenters.

xAI recently founded by Musk and known for the generative AI chatbot Grok, raised $6 billion in its second round of funding, reaching a valuation of about $18 billion.

The company plans to utlize GPUs to expand its product portfolio.

Nvidia’s B200 GPU  based on the new Blackwell architecture, were recently unveiled and will also be used in future GeForce RTXs.

They are not yet on the market, but will be priced between $30,000 and $40,000, as indicated by CEO Jensen Huang.

Given these prices, Musk would need at least $9 billion to purchase 300,000 GPUs, assuming he can negotiate a favorable price.

The availability of GPUs remains to be seen, considering the strong demand in the tech sector, with companies such as Google, Meta, Adobe, OpenAI, and Microsoft ready to place similar or larger orders.

Producing millions of GPUs is also a challenge for TSMC, the world’s largest and most advanced foundry.
