A recent study from the University of Dundee showed how AI can be used to predict the risk of heart failure, a critical condition caused by heart malfunction that is the leading cause of hospitalization for people over 65.

The results of the study, which suggest new horizons for the use of AI in the prevention of heart failure, were published in the ESC peer-reviewed journal Heart Failure.

NrIn the study, the research team used AI to analyze cardiac images from the SHARE biobank.

In this way, it was possible to identify patients with heart failure by analyzing electronic medical records and echocardiograms.

In addition, the researchers tested the ability of AI to detect any abnormalities that might increase the risk of developing heart failure.

Study results: according to the scientists, Deep Learning and AI software-enhanced heart scans yielded significantly more details about the structure and function of the heart than traditional scans.

This information, the researchers explain, can improve the effectiveness of heart failure diagnosis and enable prediction of the risk of its occurrence on a larger scale.

Chim Lang, coordinator of the study said that by analyzing large volumes of medical records, they were able to identify structural and functional abnormalities that would have escaped traditional analysis of echocardiographic images.

Chim Lang concluded by affirming that AI could improve the efficiency and speed of patient selection for clinical trials and optimize cardiac insuffuciency sorvrgliance and early diagnosis in hospital systems.
