Bing AI Rolls Out For Chrome, But Favors Microsoft Edge
DukeRem24 July 2023
#Bing, the #AI-powered #search #engine from #Microsoft, is expanding to other popular #browsers like #Google #Chrome and #Safari. This move will allow more users to access the advanced #capabilities of the #Bing AI system. Initially launched for Microsoft's #Edge browser, Bing AI is now set to reach billions of potential users. While this expansion is good news for accessibility, Microsoft has still limited some functions for non-Edge browsers. The chat conversation limit and character count are both lower in Chrome and Safari compared to Edge. And Microsoft still prompts users to "explore in Edge" for the full experience. This suggests Microsoft wants to retain Edge users by providing the best Bing AI capabilities in its own browser. However, removing restrictions in other browsers could help Microsoft improve Bing AI even more through larger user feedback and data. For users, the dark mode and the ability to switch themes easily in Chrome is a welcome feature. But the true potential of Bing AI lies in minimizing web searching and acting more like ChatGPT through its "no search" mode, providing human-like responses through AI instead of scraped web content. If Microsoft can perfect this capability, Bing AI may finally challenge Google in the search engine wars.
