Ascertain Raises $10M in Series A to Expand Agentic AI Platform That Simplifies Healthcare Operations. The round is led by Deerfield Management with strategic participation from Northwell Health.

Key Points:

  • Ascertain automates administrative workflows across health systems.
  • The funding aims to expand adoption of the AI platform across payers and providers.
  • Northwell Health has successfully tested Ascertain in pilots.
  • CEO Mark Michalski will lead the expansion in a dual role at Deerfield.

Ascertain, a New York-based healthcare technology company, announced a $10 million Series A to scale its Agentic AI Platform, a system designed to alleviate administrative workloads across health systems, payers and independent provider groups. The transaction, led by Deerfield Management with the strategic participation of Northwell Health, aims to accelerate the development and adoption of automated solutions that optimize time, resources and quality of care. The Ascertain Automate platform stands out for its ability to address complex workflows in the healthcare sector – such as clinical documentation, prior authorizations, insurance eligibility and hospital discharges – significantly reducing the time that healthcare professionals must dedicate to non-clinical tasks, often estimated at around 60%. The goal is to allow case managers, nurses and other operators to focus on higher-impact activities, such as personalized care planning and proactive management of at-risk patients. With over 100,000 vacancies in the United States alone in healthcare administrative roles, Ascertain offers a scalable and integrable infrastructure that allows more efficient use of existing staff. The system, already validated in a collaboration with Northwell Health, has demonstrated in the pilot phase the ability to quickly process paperwork, improving support for the transition of care. Leading the expansion is Mark Michalski, a healthcare technology veteran with experience at Mass General Brigham, Amazon, and Butterfly Network, who also serves as Chief Information Officer for Deerfield Management. The company’s operational move to Cure’s Deerfield headquarters reinforces the strategic alignment between the two entities. The integration with the Aegis Digital consortium, of which Northwell is a member along with 10 other large healthcare systems, also provides Ascertain with a large pool of tests, clinical data, and partners to implement its technology. The platform, which uses intelligent agents that can interpret unstructured data, connect to fragmented systems, and automate repetitive tasks, can be adopted directly by customers or outsourced to the Ascertain team. The expected result is a dramatic reduction in operating costs and improved efficiency, with positive impacts on equity and accessibility of care. The combination of technological know-how, an operational-oriented approach, and partnerships with industry leaders positions Ascertain as a key player in the digital transformation of healthcare.

Ascertain thus consolidates its presence in the healthtech ecosystem, pursuing a vision focused on optimizing care through agentic AI.
