 AMD has unveiled the new Radeon RX 9070 GPUs, with RDNA 4 architecture, significant performance gains, advanced ray tracing and ML technologies, and a notable competitive price over the competition.

In a context where the competitiveness of the GPU compartment requires constant innovations, AMD has developed the Radeon RX 9070 series, including the standard and XT variants, which show substantial increases in rasterization and ray tracing, especially in high resolutions such as 4K; in detailed technical analysis, the RX 9070 outperforms the RX 7900 GRE with an average increase of 21% in 4K, while its XT counterpart registers gains of up to 42% over the same model, also showing notable improvements over previous-generation GPUs such as the RX 6900 XT and the RTX 3080/3090 series, with incremental performance of 51% and 26% respectively in specific benchmarks; these percentages emerge from tests conducted on an average of 30 titles, including graphics-intensive titles such as Dragon Age, Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Hitman 3 and F1 24, where the ray tracing advantage can reach values of 66% in some scenarios; underpinning this performance is the RDNA 4 architecture, which introduces innovations such as dynamic register allocation, optimized cache and memory latency management, and support for 4096 parallel operations on advanced compute formats such as FP8 and BF8, elements that translate into greater efficiency even in intensive workloads and generative AI processes, offering excellent graphics and computational performance at low cost; the Navi 48 chip, found in RX 9070 solutions, integrates 4096 cores in the XT version and 3584 in the base version, accompanied by 16 GB of GDDR6 memory and a TBP of 304 watts or 220 watts respectively, while PCIe 5 connectivity. 0 x16 and HDMI 2.1b and DisplayPort 2. 1a, combined with the use of the classic 8-pin PCIe connector, underscore the technical approach aimed at ensuring stability and compatibility; additional software optimizations include the new generation of FidelityFX Super Resolution 4, which leverages artificial intelligence algorithms for accurate upscaling, contributing to competitive performance in generative AI applications, all positioned at target prices of $549 (about €649) for the base model and $599 (about €699) for the XT version, making these solutions an attractive offering for the high-end segment without resorting to higher-end solutions.
