Meta has announced the extension of its AI technology, Meta AI, to new countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), thus expanding the availability of the AI chatbot to millions of users. This move follows the launch in markets such as Brazil and the United Kingdom, with progressive deployment now reaching countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and others. In parallel, Meta introduces Arabic language support and enhances AI functionality, making it multimodal. However, available features vary according to local privacy regulations.
Key points:
- Regional expansion: Meta AI arrives in several countries in the MENA region, expanding its global reach.
- Language support: Meta AI now integrates Arabic language for greater accessibility.
- Advanced features: Introduction of innovative tools such as “Imagine Me” and audio dubbing for Instagram Reels.
- Regulatory differences: Feature availability varies depending on local privacy laws.
Meta has officially launched its AI assistant in the Middle East and North Africa, consolidating its presence in the generative AI sector and strengthening the integration of AI into its digital platforms. Following the announcement in October, in which the company unveiled the expansion of Meta AI into six new markets, including the United Kingdom and Brazil, the AI-based chatbot is now available in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. This expansion comes with an important innovation: support for Arabic language, which will allow even more users to interact with the chatbot in their native language. Meta AI is accessed through the use of the @meta tag in conversations on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger, allowing users to get suggestions on local activities, create custom playlists, or leverage advanced creative tools. New features announced include “Imagine Me,” a technology that allows users to generate stylized selfies based on AI models, and an audio dubbing system intended to improve the enjoyment of Reels on Instagram. With this expansion, Meta AI has reached a total of 42 countries and supports 13 languages, registering more than 700 million active users on the group’s various platforms. However, feature availability is not uniform globally: in some European nations, due to data privacy regulations, the use of Meta AI is limited to answering only Ray-Ban Meta AR-related questions.
Meta’s strategy aims for increasingly advanced integration of AI, with constant evolution of its multimodal capabilities and adaptability to different market needs.
