The Guardian has created a working group and small engineering team to explore the technology safely and responsibly for journalistic use. Meanwhile, in Australia, the mayor of Hepburn Shire Council may take legal action against OpenAI, the owners of ChatGPT, for falsely claiming he was imprisoned for bribery while working for a subsidiary of Australia's national bank. OpenAI has not responded to requests for comment.
