Summary of nVidia announcements at GTC
DukeRem23 March 2023
NVIDIA is a technology company that specializes in designing graphics processing units (GPUs) for gaming and other high-performance computing purposes. However, NVIDIA has always been interested in AI, and its GPUs are popular in AI research because they can perform many calculations in parallel. In a recent announcement, NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang, shared his vision for the future of AI at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC). Huang sees AI as a new kind of computer that can be programmed into human language, and he believes that generative AI will transform how visual content is created. He also announced several new products and services that NVIDIA is launching to help companies build their own custom AI models. NVIDIA underlined the importance, in the AI field of, its DGX AI supercomputer, which is the engine behind many breakthroughs in large language models and is now in full production. Half of the Fortune 100 companies have installed DGX AI supercomputers. Some of the key announcements made by NVIDIA at GTC include:
  • NVIDIA DGX Cloud: a cloud service for companies needing to build, refine, and operate custom large language models and generative AI, trained with their proprietary data and for their domain-specific tasks. NVIDIA is partnering with Microsoft Azure, Google GCP, and Oracle OCI to bring NVIDIA DGX AI supercomputers to every company instantly from a browser.
  • NVIDIA AI Foundations: a cloud service that includes language, visual, and biology model-making services. NVIDIA NEMO is for building custom language text-to-text generative models, while PICASO is a visual language model-making service. NVIDIA BioNemo is a healthcare application framework for imaging, instruments, genomics, and drug discovery.
  • NVIDIA's partnership with Getty Images, Shutterstock, and Adobe to build a set of next-generation AI capabilities for the future of creativity, integrating generative AI into the everyday workflows of marketers and creative professionals.
