Google Introduces Generative AI APIs and Products
DukeRem15 March 2023
Google has been investing in AI for many years, making its benefits accessible to everyone. Now, at a pivotal moment in the company's AI journey, Google is bringing breakthroughs in generative AI to developers and businesses. Generative AI is changing how people interact with technology, and Google has been developing large language models (LLM) so it can safely bring them to its products. To make it easy, safe, and scalable to start building with Google's best AI models, developers and businesses can try new APIs and products through Google Cloud and a new prototyping environment called MakerSuite. Google Workspace is also introducing new features that help people harness the power of generative AI to create, connect, and collaborate. For developers experimenting with AI, Google is introducing the PaLM API, an easy and safe way to build on top of the company's best language models. The API comes with an intuitive tool called MakerSuite, which lets developers quickly prototype ideas, and will have features for prompt engineering, synthetic data generation, and custom-model tuning, all supported by robust safety tools. Google is also bringing new generative AI capabilities to its Google Cloud AI portfolio. This includes foundation models, initially for generating text and images, and over time, with audio and video. Developers can discover models, create and modify prompts, fine-tune them with their own data, and deploy applications that use these new technologies. Additionally, Google is introducing the Generative AI App Builder, which connects conversational AI flows with out-of-the-box search experiences and foundation models, helping companies build generative AI applications in minutes or hours. Google is committed to being the most open cloud provider and is expanding its AI ecosystem and specialized programs for technology partners, AI-focused software providers, and startups. Trusted testers can access Vertex AI with Generative AI support and Generative AI App Builder starting today. More here and here.
